Watching the buildings go up

The three new buildings that comprise the Market Expansion are taking shape before our very eyes. Construction progress is visible, changing daily, and so exciting to watch. Here’s what is happening right now:

Sanitary and storm sewer systems are being installed across the site.

At the Gordon Lofts (the apartments on the north side of the site), utilities are being installed under ground. The slab at grade will be poured this week.

At the Gordon Hotel to the west, footings, columns and stair and shear walls are being formed and poured. Shear walls are extra-strong exterior walls designed to stabilize and protect a building from damage caused by lateral movement, i.e., in case of earthquake.

We love this photo of our site taken from the top of the Hotel Eugene. Thanks to our soon-to-be neighbors at Homes for Good for sending this gorgeous picture to us.
